Abstract

We propose a split version of the optimality principle and an associated split optimal policy iteration in order to solve the dynamic programming problem for medium sized quantized nonlinear systems which consist of weakly coupled subsystems of small size. We show convergence of the scheme in special cases and present numerical experiments for discrete and continuous time systems.
